Patrick
Patrick is a bit short in stature but his personality makes up for it. I started making Patrick in early July and yes, he’s named for Patrick Henry. Henry Is perhaps most well-remembered for his declaration of, “Give me liberty or give me death!”
But, I think his most important role in the history of the United States was his fierce defense of state’s rights and the rights of individual citizens and was instrumental to the addition of what would become our Bill of Rights to the original Constitution.
Like most of my folk art bird sculptures, Patrick is primarily made from recycled materials. His beak is entirely hand-embroidered; as is his eyes. His body is decorated with a red, white and blue themed freeform crochet coat.
