Educational Demonstrations are one of the best benefits of being a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Members get to be Guild ambassadors while sharing what they do with visitors to our stores. During “demonstration season” (March-December) there’s often two different artists running demonstrations in the lobby of the Folk Art Center. The dates I’ve listed are when I have been the honor of representing the Guild and I’ll be sharing a bit of a behind the scenes look at what I do while offering my work for sale.

ArtScape Hendersonville 2025
ArtScape Hendersonville is an annual art show and public art exhibition. It’s a juried competition where the winners and their work are featured on large, outdoor banners that are hung throughout the downtown shopping district. Maya was chosen to be on one of this year’s banners. Maya’s banner is currently on display at 226 N Main Street adjacent to the outdoor dining area of Mezzaluna Brick Oven & Tap House.

79th Annual Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands – July 16-19, 2026
Artfields 2026 – Lake City, SC
Artfields is a unique juried art show and competition where much of Lake City, SC is turned into a giant art gallery. This year there are 400 works of art that will be competing for top honors and displayed in many of their downtown shops, restaurants and galleries. My work, Nadya, was on display at The Crossroads Exchange, a vendor marketplace that is full of wonderful treasures and during Artfields.
big/Little: Southern Highland Craft Guild Main Gallery; Fall of 2025
big/Little was a fun challenge exhibition where all members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild were challenged to make a piece where typical proportions and dimensions were totally disregarded. My entry was “BB” or “Big Baby.” My Big Baby featured long legs and a long, flowing tail that my baby bird hasn’t quite grown into yet. With oversized eyes and a wide open beak, my baby is emploring all who pass by to give him some big, fat, tasty worms.
GoFigure: Exploring Three-Dimensional Figurative Art

GoFigure Guild is a mixed media group that creatively explores the art of the figure and will illustrate how the vision and skill of talented makers can transform figurative art beyond what is typically thought to be a “doll” or a toy. I feel fortunate to have been invited to join the Guild and participate in my first show with them. GoFigure Guild is made up of over 30 artists from Mitchell, Yancey, Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson,Transylvania, and Wilson Counties in North Carolina; Greenville, South Carolina; and Knoxville, Tennessee.

This event was featured in The Laurel of Asheville in which my previous work, Skylark was featured.
Bold Life Magazine promoted the event on Facebook, featuring a short bio along with a picture of an earlier work – Oliver.
